Syntermitinae is a subfamily of termites found in tropical and subtropical areas. Syntermitinae is a subfamily of Termitidae and contains thirteen genera and ninety nine species at most recent count. Syntermitinae is not found in North America, but is common in northern South America as well as other areas.

Certain species of syntermitinae are soil feeding termites and do not have to depend on wood or cellulose material for survival. Most North American species must consume cellulose material in order to survive.
